Interface screws are widely used implants in sports medicine surgeries, commonly used in knee joint cruciate ligament, ankle joint tendon, and other limb tendon ligament reconstruction surgeries, to fix autologous tendons, ligaments, or autologous ligament grafts into bone tunnels, achieving a firm connection between soft tissue and bone. Tendon-ligament fixation screws made of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) material have high mechanical strength, an elastic modulus similar to that of bone, and excellent friction performance, reducing the cutting of tendons or grafts during insertion compared to metal interface screws.
PEEK interference screws, made from PEEK-OPTIMA®*, provide strong mechanical fixation for both bone-patellar tendon-bone (BTB) and soft-tissue grafts in ACL and PCL reconstructions. PEEK interference screws feature a thread pattern that allows for a simple surgical technique, with minimal tunnel preparation. This surgical technique allows for line-to-line fixation of screw-to-graft diameter.
